Eventually, Roy was allowed to go home. He was still missing part of his leg, though, so he was unable to walk. That meant he was confined to a wheelchair or crutches anytime he wanted to move around, which Laura knew would be hard on him. The marten was the one bringing him home, since they were going to begin to move in together officially, and she had to go through a long speech from Ruth before they were allowed to leave.

Jeez, is she paranoid or what...? Laura frowned a bit to herself, but then changed it into a small smile as she pushed the wheelchair over to Roy's bed, so he could get in it. "Here we go... Do you need help?" Sure, she was half a foot shorter than Roy, but she didn't want him to have to struggle to get into the wheelchair. Well, he still has one good leg to balance on... He'll be okay.

"No, I'm okay. Zank you, anyway." Hating the feeling of helplessness that he might not even be able to do this on his own, Roy awkwardly shifted off the bed, before eventually easing himself into the wheelchair. Now it was kind of awkward-- Laura was much taller than him while like this. "I steell 'ave five perfectly workeeng appendages-- and yes, I include my weengs... Anyway, Ruz talked your ear off, deedn't she?"

"Yes, she did, but I think I can handle it... You're not really hurt anymore, just, uh... yeah..." Laura knew that the site of the injury was mostly healed, even though Roy was missing his foot. She'd have to help him when it came to moving around and getting things from places he couldn't reach, but it wasn't like he was horribly ill or something.

Grabbing the handles of the wheelchair to push it for him, Laura looked down at Roy. Wow, she looked... down at Roy. It was somewhat strange. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah.... I know...." Roy replied, knowing where that was going. He knew, in due time, he would be back in the infirmary for the port to be surgically implanted in his leg, but for now, he was glad to just leave the infirmary. He really wanted to go home... With Laura, "Anyway, yes, I'm ready. You 'ave no idea 'ow much I've wanted to get out of 'ere for ze last few days.... You're also gonna enzhoy lookeeng down at me, aren't you?"

"No, not really..." Laura was speaking honestly as she started to push the wheelchair from the infirmary, unable to get too much amusement from the situation because she knew Roy was hurting from it. "I look forward to the day you're standing up and walking around again, and feel more like your old self. But I like that you're so tall... I dunno if you'd get it, but you make me feel extra safe, since you're just so big next to me." She ducked her head a little as she walked, touching her muzzle to the top of his head.

"No, I get whaht you mean by zat... As much as I would love to grow tallair zan Chase, buht I know zat won't 'appen, I find 'is size reassureeng. So yes, I get eet." It felt weird that he couldn't look directly at Laura as he spoke-- even if he did crane his neck over his shoulder, it didn't do much. "I'm lookeeng forward to se day I'm walkeeng again, too."

"I'll take care of you until then... it'll all be okay," Laura reassured him, relieved as they reached the quiet of the hallways. The infirmary was always so noisy and had tension in the air, so it was nice to get out of the place. They were going home... Laura let out a breath, a little bit of tension leaving her shoulders.

Roy also let out a breath once he got out of the infirmary. He had really missed the quiet of the hallways... And home. "I've almost forgotten whaht real silence sounded like... Or, whaht eet deedn't sound like." He could finally relax a little, and not feel anxious from all the other wounded and sick.
